Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the plugins installed?

Our installers put plugins in the system-wide folders that every DAW scans by default.

macOS:

  • VST3: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3
  • AU: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

Windows:

  • VST3: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Aspen Instruments (or the folder you chose in the installer)

Linux:

  • VST3: /usr/lib/vst3 (or ~/.vst3 if you installed with --user)

My DAW doesn't see the plugin after installation

Try rescanning your plugins in your DAW's preferences. If that doesn't work, restart your DAW completely. On macOS, you may need to approve the plugin in System Preferences → Security & Privacy.

Can I use the plugins in commercial projects?

Yes! All Aspen Instruments plugins can be used in commercial projects without additional licensing fees. See our license page for full details.

How do I update to a newer version?

Download the latest version from the plugin's page and run the installer. It will automatically replace the previous version. We recommend closing your DAW before updating.
