Black Diamond Probe listens to the input and output of a distortion stage - hardware or software - and fits its transfer curve. Watch the device draw itself in real time, freeze and fit a curve, and save it as a .tfunc file that loads straight into Black Diamond Distortion.

Display

  1. Visualizer - the live transfer plot or scope, and the fitted curve once frozen; right-click for grid and draw options.

Transport and menu

  1. Menu - artist name, color themes, and update checks, under the Aspen logo.
  2. Play - resume live plotting after a freeze.
  3. Freeze - freeze the display and fit a transfer curve to the recorded audio (pause icon).
  4. Save - export the fitted curve as a .tfunc file.

Capture settings

  1. Scale (X / Y) - visualization gain for each signal; changes the display only, never the capture.
  2. X Lag / Y Lag - sample-delay alignment between the two signals; only the difference matters.
  3. Mode - switch the live view between the transfer plot (tfunc) and the scope (time).
  4. Size - the scope window length in time mode; while frozen, this slot shows the capture length used for the fit.
  5. Smoothing - smoothing window for the captured curve; active while frozen.
