Two modulation slots
The plugin has two internal modulation sources. By default that’s one LFO and one envelope follower, but you can right-click a modulator to double up - two LFOs or two envelope followers. Depth assignments survive the swap.
Almost everything on the panel is a target: Morph, both tone Cutoffs, BIAS, coercivity, the gains, Dry/Wet, and more. Distortion that plays itself.
Envelope follower
- INPUT - Off, Main, or Sidechain.
- HPF - keeps low frequencies out of the detector; useful for locking onto the transient of your signal.
- GAIN - detector sensitivity.
- RISE and FALL - response times, like attack and release on a compressor.
The live envelope trace draws on the display so you can see what it’s tracking.
LFO
- SHAPE - Sin, Tri, Saw, Sq, Random.
- RATE - with UNITS in Hz or BPM. BPM mode locks to the host beat.
- DIV - 1/16 up to 4 Bar when synced, with FLAVOR (straight, triplet, dotted).
- PHASE - offset the cycle.
Assigning modulation
Click a modulator to reveal the destinations: a white dot appears next to every mappable dial. Drag the dot to increase or decrease the modulation amount, or double-click a dial to type an exact amount. Don’t forget to check the collapsed panels (by hovering over Modulators, Mix, Pre-Tone, Post-Tone, and Character).
Per-lane modulation
Each mixer lane has its own modulation depth per slot, so a modulator can animate the shape of the curve itself, not just knob values.
Cross-modulation
Each slot’s Amount is itself a destination - an envelope riding the LFO’s depth, or an LFO slowly breathing the envelope’s influence.
Sidechain
Route a kick (or anything) into the plugin’s sidechain input and set the envelope follower’s INPUT to Sidechain - now the groove drives the distortion.
DAW automation
Every parameter is also automatable from your DAW - and since the plugin can hold hundreds of curves and blend between them on the fly, that’s a massive number of parameters. In DAWs that support hiding parameters they stay out of the way until you need them: in Ableton Live, click Configure and wiggle the controls you want to automate. Other DAWs simply reveal the full list.
